Lessons are an important part of learning and growing. Maybe the reason why I cherish some lessons more than others is because of the impact it took to learn it. Today I was impacted with this as I talking with my dad about getting things in life we want: The thing that I fought against and refused to use (this “blog format” in fact) turns out to be the very thing that is now giving me what I’ve wanted for a long time. I’ve wanted to get this website in the public so that we can all share our value, because the value is in the sharing and not in the isolation. Someone extremely important, and valuable to me was doing her best to teach me that I could get everything I wanted from the very thing I was fighting against; all I had to do was stop fighting and open my eyes — it was right there all along.

The lesson: When you have something or someone in your life that is giving you everything you want/need, adding resistance as they are giving you it only adds friction — the kind of friction that grinds you both down instead of polishing you up. And a harsh reality is you can’t polish up something you don’t have.
