Frankly, teenagers are so into themselves that they can’t see beyond them. The fact is, they’re going to just disregard you and your authority not because of YOU, or (that) they distrust YOU, but because they’re blindly trying to be THEMSELVES. even though they have NO clue what that even means. I was the same exact kind of athlete. I look back on my sports and I was so uncoachable that I never developed my (considerable, according to some) natural talent and abilities. But you, as the coach, have to not get caught up in their drama… you have to be content knowing that some of those kids are just not going to listen to you. Some, however, will, and those will be the ones that make it all worthwhile.
